York University Librarian Cynthia Archer thanked Vice-President Academic Sheila Embleton for her support in helping the York Libraries achieve the goal of providing an excellent library space for students and faculty at York.

The new study room was the brainchild of the libraries’ design team. The team wanted to create a space that would:

  • be aesthetically pleasing;
  • support people taking full advantage of technology;
  • accommodate the future study habits of people with more power drops for laptops, and wireless and PDA access;
  • provide a quiet, comfortable space with increased group and individual study space.

Many thanks to the members of the design team, Mark Robertson, Tom Scott, John Thomson, Peggy Warren, Varda Kernerman and Glen Yacula, and special thanks to Susan Callum, John Thomson, Varda Kernerman and Glen Yacula for making it all happen.
