University Consortium on the Global South holds public workshop





 


York’s University Consortium on the Global South wil present a free, one-day workshop on “Social Movements & Globalization: Resistance or Engagement”, Friday, April 2, from 9:30am to 4:30pm in Founders Senior Common Room, Founders College. Preregistration is requested.


During the afternoon session of the workshop, the first business meeting of the consortium will be held, to explore common action and strategy. Interested units and individuals are invited to participate.

What is the University Consortium?


The University Consortium on the Global South is a transparent and open institutional initiative based at York, a university-based umbrella that organizes a variety of research, education and dissemination activities. Although initiated by a group of York units, other academic units at York and in other universities, as well as civil society organizations, are invited to join if they agree with the basic principles of the consortium.


The consortium currently includes the following York units: African Studies Program, Business & Society Program, Centre for Research on Latin America & the Caribbean, International Development Studies Program, Latin American & Caribbean Studies Program, International Secretariat for Human Development & Democratic Governance and York Centre for Asian Research.
