New director of Alumni named

Naguib Gouda (right), an alumnus of York’s Schulich School of Business (MBA ’84), has been appointed as York’s new director, Alumni. Gouda brings to his new role solid private-sector credentials and a reputation for building successful relationships.

Prior to his appointment at York, Gouda held senior executive positions in marketing and project management with such companies as Manulife Financial Corporation and the Bank of Montreal.

A skilled, multilingual communicator, Gouda also draws on his extensive experience at the community level. He has served on numerous boards and committees and as a volunteer fundraiser for a variety of organizations, including The Learning Partnership, Sheena’s Place, the Toronto Distress Centre and SafeHaven.

As York’s director of Alumni, Gouda will be responsible for ongoing alumni activities and for developing a long-term strategic plan for alumni activity that will lay the groundwork for York’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2009.  He will report directly to the president.

“I am delighted to be back at York and look forward to reconnecting with the University and making new discoveries about York today,” said Gouda. “Learning about the needs and interests of our alumni community is an integral first step in developing our strategic plan for the future. To this end, I look forward to working with all of our partners within the York community and outside the University over the coming months and years.”
