York’s United Way Campaign team launches a final appeal

The fun and games are over for York’s 2003 United Way Campaign. The final push has begun to reach the campaign’s $180,000 goal. As of now, the campaign has met 82 per cent of its target, thanks to 359 donors from faculty and staff of the University and the York University Foundation.

The campaign team has launched an appeal to the community to get their pledge cards completed and into the office. With just $36,000 left, the team is hoping those final pledge cards will be forwarded as soon as possible.

Throughout the month of November York University faculty, staff and students participated in various special events to help raise awareness and funds for this year’s United Way Campaign.

“A special thank-you goes to all staff from various faculties and departments who volunteered their time to organize such fabulous events in support of the campaign,” said Danielle Chateau, community relations officer and Chair for this year’s campaign. With the events like the numerous bake sales, the President’s Pancake Breakfast, book sales, head-shaving fundraiser and more, Chateau said, “together, we have raised in excess of $10,000.”

“If you haven’t yet made your donation and wish to help lift our total over the top, it’s not too late to have your contribution count,” said Chateau. “Help fill the ‘Y’ with red!”
