A crew from China’s state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) was at York recently, filming an episode for their series, “World Famous Universities.”

CCTV is the largest, and only nationwide, TV station in China, and York is one of the schools they have chosen to focus on in their ambitious series of 100 university profiles from all over the world.

The first 30 episodes, which include Harvard and Oxford, have aroused much interest from viewers, since lack of information about foreign universities has been a big problem in the past.

Those interviewed for the York segment of the show include history Professor Adrian Shubert, associate VP international; Doug Crawford, Canada Research Chair in Visual-Motor Neurosciences; Stan Shapson, VP Research & Innovation; Gillian Wu, dean of the Faculty of Pure & Applied Science; and Lorna R. Marsden, president and vice-chancellor of York.
