York University Foundation’s Joel Porter, chief development officer, Faculty of Pure & Applied Science, was honoured as the Big Brother of the Year for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto Original Program. The announcement was made recently when the organization held a 2003 Volunteer Appreciation Night to honour its outstanding volunteers.

Nursing program gets healthy accreditation status

The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) Board of Accreditation has just granted the York-Seneca-Georgian Collaborative BScN degree program the highest-possible standing – a seven-year accreditation status.

“For a new program, undergoing its first accreditation process, this is a very great honour that acknowledges the quality of York’s program as the first Collaborative BScN program in Ontario. This standing would never have been achieved without the constant commitment and efforts of our colleagues in the York School of Nursing, elsewhere here at York, and at our Seneca and Georgian College partners,” said Kathleen Macdonald, director of the Atkinson School of Nursing.
