Prof’s study shows savings

A recent study by Moshe Milevsky, finance professor at York’s Schulich School of Business, shows that homeowners would have been better off borrowing at the floating (prime) rate vs. a fixed five-year rate, reports The Expositor (Brantford) Jan. 31 in a mortgage-advice column.

“You are wrong in treating Daniel Pipes’ views as legitimate ‘free speech’,” writes Nuri Jazairi, economics professor in York’s Faculty of Arts, in a letter to The Globe and Mail Jan. 31. “The Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees freedom of expression subject to ‘reasonable limits’.…  A restriction on his right to free speech would have been justified to protect the fundamental rights and reputations of others.”
