York’s policy on freedom of expression

In keeping with York’s long tradition of open and respectful dialogue, Daniel Pipes’ speaking engagement scheduled for January 28th has been transferred from the proposed venue in the Student Centre to the Tait McKenzie Centre at 2.30pm.

York University has provided venues for speakers on all sides of many controversial issues over the years  and as a matter of policy does not endorse any single speaker or viewpoint. The University has always held the view that controversial issues need to be examined and aired in a spirit of tolerance and with respect for diversity of opinion. If we can’t discuss these issues in Canada and at York – where can we discuss them?
