Here’s a research challenge

The Office of Research Administration (ORA), in conjunction with the Office of the Vice President Research & Innovation, would like to bring to the attention of York’s research community the call for proposals for the Ontario Research and Development Challenge Fund (ORDCF) Round 13 competition.

The ORDCF is designed to promote research excellence in the province by increasing the research and development capacity of Ontario universities and other research institutions through private and public sector partnerships.

The fund has been set up to:

promote world-class research of interest to the private sector;

encourage more collaboration between the private sector, universities and research institutions;

help Ontario universities and other research institutes to compete for funding from other research funding programs.

Research institutions, including hospitals and universities, that apply for funding must have commitments from their private sector partners to contribute one-third of the total proposal costs. This condition guarantees that proposals are relevant to business and industry and can meet their bottom-line needs.

Detailed information on the application process and assessment criteria for the program can be found at: http://www.ontariochallengefund.com/. This Web site contains information on the ORDCF, as well as the application form.

Agency Deadlines:

Round 13 Letter of Intent: Jan. 31

Round 13 Applications: March 14

Internal Deadlines:

ORA internal deadline for draft of application: Feb. 28

As soon as possible, potential applicants should contact Steven Mataija, manager, Government Research Initiatives Programs, at ext. 22507 or at smataija@yorku.ca. He is available to provide advice and assistance in the conception of ORDCF applications

Reminder:

York University researchers are reminded that all applications for external research funding, including letters of intent, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Administration before they are submitted to the granting agency. For internal approval, the application must be accompanied by a completed ORA Application Checklist, which requires the Chair’s and dean’s signatures. To ensure that the approved application is ready by the agency deadline, a complete application folder must be submitted to the ORA10 working days prior to the final submission date.
