York enters second phase of SuperBuild project

In its continuing quest to enhance the quality of the student experience at York and to accommodate the increasing demand for university places in the next few years, York University is entering the second phase of its on-time, on-budget SuperBuild project.

On Jan. 27, York University will be submitting a new proposal to the provincial government to build new academic space on its Keele campus. This will be a major development project to be completed by fall 2005 at the latest. It follows yesterday’s announcement by Dianne Cunningham, minister of training, colleges and universities, that the province will be funding a new round of postsecondary projects through its SuperBuild Fund.

York President and Vice-Chancellor Lorna R. Marsden said, “We are delighted that Minister Cunningham announced yesterday a new round of SuperBuild projects, responding to our requests for space to accommodate the demographic growth in areas of student demand. It”s a huge part of our commitment to continually enhance the environment for our students here at York. It also gives us a chance to fulfill the aspirations of the thousands of new students in the coming years.”
