Special York archives to be showcased online

One of the collections in York”s archives is being used to showcase some digitized archival documents on ARCHEION, Ontario’s archival information network. The virtual exhibit of the Beer family fonds d”archives has made its debut at a most appropriate time – Remembrance Day.

To read a selection of letters from Lt. James Allen to his sweetheart Vivien Beer in Strathroy, Ontario in 1916, visit:

Sadly, Allen did not survive World War I.

Suzanne Dubeau, acting University archivist & head of special collections, York University Archives & Special Collections, said the virtual exhibit was made possible by the financial assistance of the Government of Canada through the National Archives of Canada and the Canadian Council of Archives.

Those interested in learning more about York Archives” other holdings relating to WWI and WWII are welcome to drop by and inspect the display just outside Archives & Special Collections on the third floor of Scott Library.
