Martin talks reform at York

Federal Minister of Finance Paul Martin spoke yesterday to York’s Osgoode Hall Law School students, faculty and staff, outlining his proposals for government reform.

Citing fundamental difficulties in the political process that has led Canadians to “disengage from the political system”, Martin spoke of six reforms to strengthen the House of Commons, address the “democratic deficit” and create a fundamental shift in the culture of government in Canada.
