York prof picks best stock

York University finance Professor Moshe Milevsky has edged out veteran stock picker Steven Misener to take the lead at the third-quarter mark of The Globe and Mail’s annual My One and Only stock-picking contest, reports the newspaper Oct. 5. His choice of Ketch Energy Ltd. (KCH-TSX) has gained 34.5 per cent since the beginning of the year to the end of September. Nine contestants are vying for a The Globe and Mail coffee mug in this sixth annual contest. Contestants can pick one stock trading at a minimum of $1 on the Toronto Stock Exchange. “If it were my own portfolio, and I had close to a 35-per-cent gain, yeah, I’d probably cash out. But, hey, this is a contest, so let’s keep it running,” the professor said.
