Would he be amused?

Humourist Ben Wicks would have been smiling at his family and friends as he saw them enjoying themselves at a reception at York on Sept. 10, the second anniversary of his death. The family of the late Wicks visited the University last Tuesday to view a stone dedicated to Wicks two years earlier in the Honour Court.  The stone was in recognition of the internationally-known writer and cartoonist”s donation of illustrations from his syndicated comic strips, books, manuscripts and correspondence to York. The collection is now housed in the National Archives in Ottawa.

At the dedication, President and CEO of the York University Foundation Paul Marcus spoke of Wicks’ generosity to York and his dedication to literacy and the well-being of all children. Pictured here at the Honour Court are Wick’s wife Doreen (centre), son Vince and daughter Sue McLelland. Other family and friends were in attendance.
