Feldman hails the King

Today marks the launch of a new book, Allan King, Filmmaker (edited by York University’s Seth Feldman), honouring the venerable Canadian filmmaker who is enjoying an 18-film retrospective at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, reports The Globe and Mail Sept. 10. A ranked place

The second annual Wall Street Journal’s recruiter ranking of business schools finds York’s Schulich School of Business and McGill University’s business faculty below the top 50, reports The Globe and Mail and National Post Sept. 10. The Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario dropped to 42nd from 22nd last year. The University of Toronto’s Rotman School placed 46th.

HR people, work!

Monica Belcourt, professor of human resources in Atkinson’s School of Administrative Studies, spoke to host Jane Farrow Sept. 9 on CBC Radio One’s ‘This Morning’  program Workology  segment about what the people in the human resources department actually do at their jobs.

Canadian, eh? 

David Wheeler, professor at Schulich School of Business, is talking about a York University survey. He told a reporter on “Points North” on CBCS-FM in Sudbury Sept. 9 that it shows a majority of Canadians would like to see our corporations improve their image internationally. He told hosts on “Home Run”, a program aired the same day on Montreal radio station CBME-FM, that people cannot recognize Canadian
companies [like Alcan].

She’s all Greek to them
York University third-year kinesiology student Krissy Chrisztopulosz is taking her ball glove and bat to play in the Greek women’s softball team the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, reported York Region.com on Sept. 5.
