Provost issues COVID-19 update on summer terms, online learning, graduation and convocation

York University is proceeding with a Summer 2020 term and plans to offer as many summer courses as possible through online/remote delivery formats. There will be a one-week delay to the start of the summer term. Unfortunately, it will not be possible for the spring ceremonies to go forward as planned. Alternatives are being explored and updates will be provided as soon as they are available.

The researchers will look at how supply chain disruptions are affecting medical and pharmaceutical industries and how social media is spreading misinformation and hindering the capacity of public health officials to communicate scientific facts. They will also evaluate how intervention strategies can help decision-makers identify the type and intensity of control measures needed for containment.

COVID-19 continues to spread globally and the phrase “flatten the curve” has now entered our every-day language. Professor Ali Asgary from the Disaster & Emergency Management has developed a model to help families understand why social distancing is an important way to help people understand how the virus spreads within a family unit and how they can work to flatten the curve at home and within their communities.
