Senior leadership will provide an overview and context regarding the University's current financial framework, including both the opportunities and economic challenges that need to be considered when planning for the academic year.


York professor launches new Blackness in Canada Policy Networking Conference, Feb. 4 & 5

York public policy and equity studies Professor Lorne Foster, together with the Institute for Social Research, are the primary organizers of the new Blackness in Canada Policy Networking Conference. The conference will take place Feb. 4 and 5 in the second floor conference facility in the Second Student Centre at the Keele Campus.

Inclusion Day celebrates diversity at York University, Feb. 4

What does it mean to belong? How can we promote a greater sense of belonging at York University? The Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion has partnered with the Law Commission of Ontario to host the 11th annual Inclusion Day on Feb. 4. The event will be held at Osgoode Hall Law School, Helliwell Centre, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Talk explores how the Landless Workers Movement transformed Brazilian education

On Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., guest presenter Pennsylvania State University Professor Rebecca Tarlau will present a lecture titled “Occupying Schools, Occupying Land.” Tarlau will explore how Brazilian Landless Workers Movement activists have pressured municipalities, states and the federal government of Brazil to implement their educational program in public schools and universities.

Calling all researchers: York’s Research Commons is offering two new workshops

The Research Commons at York University is offering two free workshops. The Jan. 21 workshop will explore the Concur expense reporting system. The Jan. 29 workshop offer tips and advice from experienced researchers about the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Nominations for the President’s University-Wide Teaching Awards are due Jan. 31

The President’s University-Wide Teaching Awards honour those who, through innovation and commitment, have significantly enhanced the quality of learning by York students. Four awards are offered each year. Online nominations are due Jan. 31.

Spray Days pest control treatments scheduled for Jan. 24 to 26

The next spray days on the Keele and Glendon campuses will begin Friday, Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. and end Sunday, Jan. 26 at 5 p.m.
