Robert (Bob) Everett had a 30-year career of distinguished service in governance at York University. The University’s Senate Chamber was re-named the Dr. Robert Everett Senate Chamber in honour of his unprecedented contribution to the University. Bob Everett died on May 10.
YFile readers were invited to participate in a survey on whether the publication should change its name, and what the name should be. The two-week survey closed April 30, and results indicate that readers are loyal to the ‘YFile’ name.
A health services expert led an examination of a year-long study with Syrian refugees and discovered that rates of depression actually rose over the year. This brought to light perceived sinking social support and control, language barriers and more disappointments – predictors of depression, which could point the way to policy change.
