Passings: Elizabeth Nam had many roles at York University

Elizabeth Nam, a former administrative secretary in the Department of Sociology died on June 1. She had been battling a serious illness over the past year. Sadly, she died just days away from her wedding, which was to take place this June.

Ms. Nam joined the Department of Sociology in 2011, and left in October 2014 to accept a promotion in the School of Nursing. Most recently she worked at the Art Gallery of York University. Before working in the Sociology Department, Ms. Nam worked for a number of other areas at York University, including ITC, York International, Research Accounting, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Faculty of Science & Engineering. She also completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at York.

She is remembered by her many colleagues and friends at York University for her quiet, gentle humour and solid work ethic. She leaves her mother, her twin Rees, her brother Michael, and her fiancé Andy.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Nam will take place June 9 at the Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East. Full details are available at: http://bit.ly/1UC5PiX.

The University flags will be lowered June 6 at 1pm to commemorate Ms. Nam and will remain at half-mast until 5pm on June 7.
