CHR announces schedule for human rights workshops for staff

York University’s Centre for Human Rights (CHR) recently launched its 2015/2016 human rights training schedule, which begins Oct. 16.

The Human Rights Professional Development Training for York Staff (CPM and unionized staff, non-managers) will focus on ensuring the key principles of York University – respect, equity, diversity and inclusion – are upheld and reflected in learning, working and living environments.

During this workshop, participants will: have an understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code (1962) and the Employment Equity Act, and the implications for employees’ roles and responsibilities; discuss the obligations to increasing equity and inclusion in the workplace and the associated challenges; and share best practices and strategies for providing inclusive and equitable services.

October’s training schedule for this York staff workshop is:

  • Oct. 16, 10am to noon, 305 York Lanes;
  • Nov. 10, 10am to noon, A224 Centre of Excellence, Glendon campus;
  • March 16, 1 to 3pm, 305 York Lanes; and
  • April 12, 1 to 3pm, A224 Centre of Excellence, Glendon campus.
