Now in its 18th year, YorkFest once again welcomes students with a slew of special events all week long, until Friday, Sept. 20.
YorkFest, in cooperation with the York Federation of Students (YFS), the Student Centre and The Underground, is a chance to learn what York University has to offer, make new friends, join a club and have fun.
Monday, Sept. 16
Bagel Breakfast, 9 to 11am
Start the school year off on the right foot. Join YFS for a free bagel breakfast catered by the Great Canadian Bagel.
Dirty Bingo, 7pm
This isn’t the run-of-the-mill, average Bingo game. This is a free, fun twist on a classic game. Hosted by none other than Big Mamma Two-Four, with prizes provided by the Stag Shop, this is a night you won’t want to miss. All ages licensed event. York ID required.
Tuesday, Sept. 17
Shisha Garden, 10am to 4pm
Classes have you stressed out already? Take a load off and de-stress with some herbal shisha amongst friends, surrounded by trees in our Shisha Garden located in Catalpa Court, behind the Student Centre. It’s free.
Poker Night, 7pm
Founders Assembly Hall
Dress to impress, as you take in the glitz and glamour of Poker Night. Try your luck to collect the most chips for your chance at the grand prize. This is a free event.
Wednesday, Sept. 18
Festival Village & BBQ, 10am to 5pm
The annual Festival Village will feature informational booths about all the clubs on campus, free food, free orientation kits, free giveaways and more. Free YFS agendas will also be handed out. And there’s nothing better than good food off a grill – except when it’s free, all day. Join YFS for its annual YorkFest BBQ, where great food meets the Festival Village on the Campus Walk.
Thursday, Sept. 19
Fear Factor, 1pm
Student Centre Food Court
Think you have what it takes to face your fears? Will you be able to keep down the edible yet gruesome goodies in front of you? Come test your willpower and your stomach for a chance to win various prizes. All for free.
