YorkFest, the annual concert and consumer exhibition for students, has grown into a weeklong affair in this, its 17th year.
In cooperation with the York Federation of Students (YFS), the Underground and the York Student Centre, YorkFest will be mounting a week of special events to welcome all students to the University. All events take place at the Keele campus.
Tuesday, Sept. 11
Hip Hop Karaoke, 7 to 10pm
The Underground, Student Centre
Bring your rhythm and YFS will bring the microphone. Hip Hop Karaoke is an event designed for everyone, so get out, rock the crowd and enjoy the greatest hip hop hits of all time. This is an event for all ages, it is licensed and a valid York identification card is required.
Wednesday, Sept. 12
Festival Village, 10am to 5pm
Campus Walk
The annual Festival Village features information displays about all of the clubs on the Keele campus. The event includes free food, orientation kits, giveaways and more. Free YFS agendas will also be distributed.

There’s nothing quite like good food off a grill. Except when it’s all free and available all day. Join the YFS for their annual Yorkfest BBQ, where great food meets the Festival Village on Campus Walk’
Free concert featuring rapper Lupe fiasco and DJ Clymaxx!7 to 12pm
Rexall Centre
The annual YorkFest concert is one of the most popular events of the year. The free concert features American rapper Lupe fiasco and DJ Clymaxx! Doors open 7pm at the Rexall Centre. The concert is open to York students only and the YU Card is your ticket. All ages are welcome, this is a licensed event.

Thursday, Sept. 13
YFS Fear Factor, 1pm
Student Centre
Do you have what it takes to face your fears? The YFS is coming out with the first ever Fear Factor. The event will consist of various stunts involving edible but gruesome goodies that contestants will have to eat (and keep down). There will be great prizes available to win.
Pub Night, 10pm to 2am
The Underground, Student Centre
Come out for a great night of music and dancing at The Underground. The pub night is free for York students, and $5 for non-York students. Valid York ID required, age ID required as this is a licensed event.
Friday, Sept. 14
Medieval Times, 7pm
Exhibition Place
Enjoy all of the adventures, pomp and ceremony of centuries past and watch as courageous knights compete in tournaments involving sword fights, jousting and more. A royal feast will be served. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the YFS Member Services Office, Room 106, Student Centre.
Saturday, Sept. 15
Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays, 1pm
Rogers Centre
Join the YFS as we cheer on our Toronto Blue Jays as they face the Boston Red Sox Saturday afternoon at the Rogers Centre in dowtown Toronto. Tickets are $10 earch and can be purchased at the YFS Member Services Office.
