New date for closure of Northbound Keele Street at Finch West

subway train

mapThe closure previously announced for Aug. 20 had been delayed until Monday, Aug. 27.

On Aug. 27, subway station excavation work that is part of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension requires the closure of northbound Keele Street, for a distance of approximately 100 metres south of Finch Avenue West. The closure will last for four months.

Detour signs will be posted to redirect through traffic to alternate routes (see map). Motorists may face traffic delays.

Two-way access to all businesses will be maintained on Keele Street, with one exception. All traffic exiting the TD Bank and McDonalds restaurant parking lot will use the Finch Ave. West driveway (refer to the blue line on the map).

The alternate northbound detour runs east on Toro Road, north on Tangiers Road to the Murray Ross Parkway extension back on to Keele Street northbound.

Right turns will not be permitted from westbound Finch Avenue West to northbound Keele Street, except for buses.

Trucks will not be permitted on Broadoaks Drive or Catford Road.

Transit delays may be experienced on 36 Finch Avenue West, 107 Keele North and 41 Keele buses. Northbound bus routes that normally travel on Keele Street north of Toro Road will use the detour.

The multi-use pathway on the west side of Keele Street will remain open during construction. Pedestrians using the east side of Keele Street should follow the designated pathway adjacent to the TD Bank (the purple line on the map).
