Lions’ Parkinson named throws coach for NACAC championships

Richard ParkinsonAthletics Canada has announced that York University Lions assistant track and field coach Richard Parkinson has been named the throws coach for the 2012 North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) under-23 championships.

The championships will take place in Guanajuato, Mexico, July 6 to 8, and will feature the top track and field athletes from across North America, Central America and the Caribbean, who were born in 1990 through 1992.

Parkinson has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach with the Lions track and field team, specializing in the throws, and in that time he has created one of the top throws programs in the country. This past season his student-athletes won a total of seven medals at the Ontario University Athletics championships and five at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport championships, including a sweep of the men’s and women’s throws events at the national event.
