James Alexander contributed 40 years to York as a locksmith

James Alexander took great pride in his career at York University and devoted more than 40 years of his life to keeping community members and their possessions safe.

Mr. Alexander died on Sunday, June 26 at the William Osler Brampton Civic Hospital following a James Alexanderbattle with cancer. He would have celebrated his 67th birthday on Aug. 14.

Described by his colleagues as a caring person who always put the welfare of others before his own, Mr. Alexander worked in the Maintenance Department in Campus Services & Business Operations at York University.

Married for 44 years, Mr. Alexander leaves his wife Catherine, children Kelly and Dawn and their spouses. He was the proud grandfather of Sydnee and Wyatt.

The York flag will be lowered to half-mast on Sunday, July 3 and will fly at half-mast until noon on Monday, July 4.

Members of the York community are invited to celebrate Mr. Alexander’s life at a memorial service on Sunday, July 3, from 2pm onward at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 609, 1133 Queen St. East, Brampton.
