Flags will fly at half-mast tomorrow in memory of Shane Fair

Funeral services for Shane Fair, 19, a first-year Faculty of Arts student at York University who died on May 16, have been announced.

A visitation for Shane will take place today, from 3 to 8pm at the Sherrin Funeral Home, 873 Kingston Rd. (just west of Victoria Park Avenue). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 1pm at the St. John The Baptist, Norway Anglican Church, 470 Woodbine Ave. The flags at the Passy Gardens, Keele and Glendon flagpoles will fly at half-mast on Thursday, June 4 from sunrise until 1pm on Friday, June 5 to coincide with the funeral. 

An army reservist, Shane was a member of the 32 Combat Engineer Regiment. He was enrolled in his first year of studies and was working toward a BA in linguistics and communications. A member of the Calumet College community, Shane lived in Calumet Residence. He was last seen early May 16 after the formal for his York University residence.

Shane leaves his parents Lisa Malo and Brian Fair (Anita). He will be missed by his brother Kyle and step-brother Aden. In lieu of flowers, the family will receive donations towards a tree to be planted in Shane’s memory.
