Call for submissions for 50 Years in the Faculty of Arts: A Retrospective

The Arts U50 committee is looking for contributions of photos, videos, books, newsletters, memorabilia and more for its upcoming exhibit – 50 Years in the Faculty of Arts: A Retrospective – which will run in York’s AKASA Gallery from March 23 to 27.

The creation of the new Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS) to replace two of York’s current Faculties – the Faculty of Arts and the Atkinson Faculty of Liberal & Professional Studies – will be one of the significant events of York’s 50th year. The best of both Faculties will be brought together to provide current and future students the greatest opportunities for studying with an interdisciplinary view of the world.

To celebrate, honour and remember the last 50 years of Faculty of Arts excellence, prior to the launch of the new LA&PS in July 2009, the Arts U50 committee will create a visual timeline/gallery to showcase the Faculty’s great history, changes throughout the decades, important moments and more.

Call for submissions: All items submitted to the exhibit will be returned to the contributor; however, donations of artifacts to the York archivist are highly encouraged. A legacy donation of an exhibit DVD will be presented to the York archivist. For questions or to make a contribution, contact Briana Sim, events & promotions coordinator in the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Arts, at bsim@yorku.ca.

The AKASA Gallery is located in the Student Centre at the east end of the food court. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 11am to 5pm.
