City planners to hold open house on University secondary plan review

The City of Toronto will hold an open house and community consultation meeting for the York University Secondary Plan on Wednesday, June 4, from 4 to 9pm, in the University City Recreation Centre, Aerobics Room, 453 Sentinel Road. The event begins with an open house from 5 to 6pm, followed by a presentation and question & answer session, running until 9pm.

Over the past year, the City of Toronto Planning Division first initiated and then undertook a review of the plan, which was approved in 1991, in recognition of the fact that York has undergone considerable and significant development in the last few years. Together with the proposed transit improvements in the area – the Downsview to York University bus-only lanes and the Spadina Subway Extension – it was deemed timely to update the plan.

The purpose of the open house and community consultation meeting is to present:

  • the recommended land uses, heights and densities;
  • the recommended transportation network;
  • recommendations for protecting natural areas and improving the environment; and
  • other key recommendations for the secondary plan update.
