Students from local public school participate in Kids Day at York

About 60 students, ranging from Grades 3 to 5, came out to McLaughlin College Council’s Kids Day 2008, an annual community-building partnership between York’s McLaughlin College and Shoreham Public School of the Toronto District School Board on March 15.

In addition to the students from Shoreham, 40 volunteers from York joined in the fun of this McLaughlin College tradition. The day is being hailed as a great success.

Kids Day is a chance for students in the community to visit York’s Keele campus and participate in team-building activities with York student volunteers. It also gives the public school students an opportunity to interact with positive role models who demonstrate team work and positive attitudes.

The day consisted of arts and crafts, drama games, team-building activities, a break dancing performance and a scavenger hunt around York. Overall, Kids Day was a great experience for everyone involved.

The day would not have been possible without the enthusiastic group of York student volunteers, McLaughlin College Council and the excited Shoreham students who participated.
