January Information Fair provides insight into life outside the classroom

Students looking for an opportunity to get an up-close view of life outside the classroom need look no further than York University’s second annual January Information Fair.

Taking place on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10am to 3pm, in the CIBC Lobby, Accolade East Building, the event is hosted by York’s Student Community & Leadership Development (SC&LD). The January Information Fair will provide new and returning students the opportunity to meet members of student clubs and organizations to find out more about the exciting campus life opportunities that await them. They will also have a chance to learn about some of the excellent student services available on campus.

"The January Information Fair is only one component of SC&LD’s Orientation programming. While the fair is aimed primarily at Winter-entry students, it also serves as a kind of re-orientation to campus life for all students," says Brian Poser, manager, student success & retention at SC&LD.

Visitors to the Accolade East location can enjoy a slice of pizza and pop for a charitable donation of just $1, learn about the multitude of services and social opportunities available and see club demonstrations by the talented array of students that make up York’s community, including the Fencing Club and the Ballroom Dancing Club.

"Engagement in co-curricular life is an important aspect of student success and a well-rounded student experience. Students who take advantage of this opportunity will discover a whole new dimension beyond their day-to-day classroom experience," says Poser.
