York celebrates 10 years of research breakthroughs on Nov. 12

Are you curious about what’s going on in York University’s research labs? Here’s your chance to talk to the people behind some of today’s leading health, scientific and social sciences research breakthroughs.

On Monday, Nov. 12, more than 40 researchers who have received funding grants from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) are opening their doors between 10am and noon. Students, faculty and staff are invited to see how CFI’s investments in equipment, laboratories and databases are transforming research at York while benefiting people across Canada and around the world.

The open house is part of CFI Day at York, celebrating CFI’s 10th anniversary. Since its creation, CFI has awarded over $24 million to York researchers in disciplines ranging from health and applied mathematics to space science and fine art. Recent projects include the Gordon G. Shepherd Atmospheric Research Facility, located in the Petrie Building, which officially opened in August 2007.

On Nov. 12, YFile will post a special campus map guide that you can download and print. You will also be able to pick up a hard copy at one of these locations:

  • The Bennett Centre for Student Services – reception desk
  • Tait McKenzie Centre
  • Central Square – information desk
  • TEL Building
  • York Lanes
  • Computer Science & Engineering Building.
