York lecturer honoured by Association of Hispanic Canadian Professors

The Association of Hispanic Canadian Professors has honoured Pastor Valle-Garay, a Spanish-language lecturer with York’s Faculty of Arts, and York graduates Camille-Esther Beniluz (BA ‘06), Sara Kun (BA ‘05, MA ‘06) and Helen Mayer (BA ‘06), all Spanish majors in York’s Department of Languages, Literatures& Linguistics, with merit plaques and diplomas in recognition of their scholarship and outstanding academic and community accomplishments.

Valle-Garay, a senior scholar with a long and distinguished career as a York Spanish instructor, is also a diplomat, published writer and volunteer in Toronto’s Spanish-speaking community. He received special recognition by the Association of Hispanic Canadian Professors for his outstanding services to numerous venues in Toronto’s Spanish-speaking community and his volunteer work in Central America.

The awards ceremonies was held at the conclusion of the third workshop on education held by the association in the auditorium of the Ontario Institute of Education on Saturday, Feb. 10.
