Cynthia Chataway, professor of psychology

Cynthia Chataway was a professor of psychology at York University. Professor Chataway, who died of cancer on June 21 in Victoria, BC, was a popular professor. Her memory was celebrated at a memorial service held recently on the Keele campus.

A graduate of Queen’s University, Prof. Chataway earned a BA/BEd. in 1987, followed by a PhD at Harvard University in 1994. In her work as a professor of psychology at York, Chataway was involved in both the theory and practice of conflict resolution and Indigenous self-determination.


Prof. Chataway was an avid gardener and enjoyed hiking.
