York’s a festival of ideas for graduates

The academic year is fast drawing to a close, and some of those about to graduate have been scratching their heads about what to do next. York came up with some answers at GradFest 2003, held this week in York Lanes. There was also information about graduates’ immediate future – convocation – along with photography and grad robe booths.

Sponsored by York’s Alumni Office, GradFest set out to provide undergraduate and graduate students and recent alumni with an introduction to life after university. Through affinity partners and other collaborators, the event organizers offered seminars on such topics as buying your first home, earning an “A” in credit-rating, tips for the international traveller, and life and health insurance 101.

In addition to holding seminars, affinity partners, associations, chapters and relevant campus services set up displays of resources available to make graduation day a success and to make the transition to the “real” world as seamless as possible.
