Internship opportunity brings York U grad full circle

Recent grad Denise Bang landed a plum position with CGI as a campus ambassador after completing an internship with the technology company. She was coached along the way by staff in the YU Experience Hub, which is home to the Internship and Co-op programs for students from the Faculties of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and Science at York University.

Art opens a new window on chronic illness

Faculty of Health psychology Professor Lucy Gagliese teaches a fourth-year, blended undergraduate course on the psychology of chronic illness. In 2016, she chose to incorporate arts into the online section of the course because she felt it would give her students a different perspective and more empathy towards those individuals who live with a chronic illness.

York University through its Teaching Commons has taken a leadership role in establishing a new online Community of Practice (CoP) website for educational developers and professionals specializing in eLearning. The Ontario eTeaching & eLearning CoP website is the first in province to offer a place to share best practices, observations and perspectives in eLearning and eTeaching.

Call for proposals: Teaching in Focus Conference

The Teaching Commons is busy planning the fifth Teaching in Focus Conference, which will take place on May 17 and 18 at the Keele campus. This year, there is the option to submit a proposal for an interactive session, a panel discussion, or a poster presentation. The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, Feb. 17.
