NOAA Research Chemist Steven Brown to deliver the 2015 Harold I. Schiff Lecture May 28

The study of lower atmospheric chemistry has largely been a story of summertime phenomena with a dramatic impact on air quality, while wintertime oxidation tends to be slower with fewer air quality issues. Yet there remain interesting and important chemical cycles that are dominant in winter and that remain poorly understood. Brown will survey key recent findings from a series of wintertime field intensives spanning coasts and the interior of North America.

York U Sculptor-in-Residence Marlon Griffith uses Carnival ‘mas’ to raise awareness around accessibility

Originally from Port of Spain, Griffith began his artistic practice as a Carnival designer, working in the “mas” (or masquerade) tradition of Trinidad. With a group of 15 York U students, Griffith is now building seven large-scale, wearable costumes to be featured in a 300-person procession Aug. 9, titled “Ring of Fire.” The project was commissioned by the Art Gallery of York University.
