Hong Kong’s umbrella revolution, panel discusses what’s next Monday

The student protests in Hong Kong and the Occupy Central movement have drawn the world’s attention to the ongoing conflict over democratization in the territory and the role of the central Chinese government authorities in Hong Kong’s political development. On Monday, Oct. 6, from 3 to 5pm, at 280N York Lanes, Keele campus, a panel of experts will discuss the issues.

Passings: Mary Lyons, former women’s interuniversity athletics coordinator

Ms. Lyons was instrumental in initiating and developing the women’s athletic program, recruiting a strong coaching staff and establishing an active and effective student-governed Women’s Athletic Council.

Prof. Huaxiong Huang appointed to Fields Institute for Research in Mathematics

In this role, Huang will facilitate connections between academic researchers and their counterparts in industry. He continues as a professor in the Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science at York University.
