Symposium marks the 2019 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

The 2019 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination marks 50 years of a commitment to challenge discriminatory actions against racialized groups and foster the embrace of fundamental freedoms and protection from such actions.

McLaughlin College, the Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (CHREI), and the Race, Inclusion and Supportive Environments (RISE) Sub-committee have organized a symposium celebrating the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD).

The symposium will be held on Thursday, March 21, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in Room JCR 014 (the McLaughlin College Junior Common Room). All are welcome to attend this event.

The event will feature the following panelists:

Anne C. Cools, former Senator in the Upper House of Canadian Parliament;

Andrea A. Davis, associate professor in Black Cultures of the Americas and the coordinator of the Black Canadian Studies Certificate. Davis is also the Chair of the Department of Humanities;

Pablo Idahosa, professor in the Department of Social Science, and the head of Founders College.
