The 2018 federal budget proposed to invest more than $1.7 billion over five years to support researchers through Canada’s granting agencies and research institutes. Included was a $275-million investment over five years to support the new Tri-Agency Research Fund.

Following on budget 2018 commitments, the CRCC has launched a national consultation to help inform the future of Canada’s research landscape.

The research community is invited to provide feedback on a draft funding model that the CRCC has developed.

More specifically, your feedback is needed on three key priorities:
1. Creating a new tri-agency fund to support international, interdisciplinary, fast-breaking and high-risk research that generates new knowledge;
2. Strengthening equity, diversity and inclusion in research; and
3. Support for early career researchers.

Input from this process will inform the development of a call for proposals this fall for the Tri-Agency Research Fund.

The online consultation is open to all Canadians until Aug. 27. Visit the online consultation portal for information and to provide your input.
