And the winners of the #YUSpirit photo competition are…

Following another successful Red & White Day celebration on March 23, the results are in for the #YUSpirit photo competition. Winners were selected in two categories: YU Spirit Students and YU Spirit Faculty & Staff.

The judges certainly had their work cut out for them this year, as the competition was fierce. Hundreds of students, staff and faculty submitted photos, with only one winner selected in each category. Contest entries were judged by faculty representative Katherine Knight, an Associate Professor in the School of Arts, Media, Performance & Design. Knight was joined by Kaitlyn Myles, a student member of the Visual Arts Student Association and staff member Christie Lazo, the Social/Print Media Assistant for the Communications & Marketing Department in the Division of Students.

Above: The winner in the YU Spirit Students category is Gurnish Hothi. The judges loved the tonality, composition, contrast and use of selective colour in this photo.
Above: The winning YU Spirit Faculty & Staff photo was submitted by the team from Access Services at Scott Library. The judges mentioned that this photo was inventive, collaborative and a great aerial view.
Above: Last but not least, the winner of the YU Faculty and Staff Spirit Challenge was the office of Vice-President Academic & Provost.

There were many other spirit-filled photos taken by York community members on Red & White Day. They can be found on various social media channels under the hashtag #YUSpirit.
