Staff, faculty invited to volunteer for YU Belong and York Orientation Day

York University staff and faculty are encouraged to sign up to participate in YU Belong, a campaign that helps students navigate campus, find classrooms and discover resources during their first days at University.

YU BelongThe first weeks of a new student’s campus life will set the course for their years ahead, and those that volunteer to participate in YU Belong help ease this transition and make a long-lasting, positive impression.

The YU Belong campaign is now in its fourth year.

Registrations to participate in YU Belong can be filled out online here prior to Aug. 22.

When your YU Belong package is ready, you will receive an email letting you know that you can pick it up at the RED Zone kiosk in the centre of Vari Hall. The YU Belong package will include an “Ask Me” lanyard and a YU Belong button. Wearing a lanyard and button between Sept. 3 and 16 will ensure that you are easily recognizable as a YU Belong Ambassador.

Upper-year students, as well as staff and faculty, are also encouraged to volunteer for York Orientation Day, happening on Sept. 7. Sign up online here and be a part of the biggest event on campus.

York Orientation Day is a full-day event for all our new undergraduate students. Volunteers at York Orientation Day will receive a free York t-shirt.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • helping students with wayfinding from noon – 2pm
  • serving as an usher at the Welcome Ceremony from 4:30 to 8pm (dinner provided)
