Student Financial Services announces the call for position requests for the Fall/Winter 2016-17 Work/Study Programs. Work/Study positions are available at both the Keele and Glendon campuses and allow York undergraduate students to earn extra money, gain valuable experience and contribute to University life.

The program encompasses the following categories:

  • Research At York (RAY) – enhances the research culture of the University and the undergraduate student academic experience. Students can gain valuable research experience from faculty or senior/graduate students while receiving compensation at a competitive rate.
  • York Engaged Student (YES) – supports high-profile contributions and engagement activities on campus that are focused on such things as peer mentoring, ambassadorship and advising.
  • College Life At York (CLAY) – focuses on enhancing the student experience within the college system.
  • Work/Study – offers a broad range of opportunities that allow students to acquire the administrative/technical skills and knowledge needed to prepare them for the working world.

Due to the unique nature of the Research at York (RAY) program, submissions are reviewed and assessed by the RAY Advisory Committee.  In order to be considered, the position description(s) must include the following:

  • Brief description of the nature of the research project.
  • Types of research activities in which the student will be actively involved
  • Description of the research experience that the student will receive
  • Description of the type of training and support that will be provided to the student in carrying out these research activities
  • Name of supervising Faculty member

Approved positions will be eligible for partial reimbursement assuming all conditions have been met.  Additional information on all work study programs, including terms and conditions, instructions on how to post a job request and reimbursement rates, is available on the Employment Administrators website.

Interested units or departments may start entering job requests on the Career Centre online job posting system immediately.  A separate job posting must be submitted for each position a unit would like to have considered (i.e. if a department/unit requires four identical positions, the job request must be submitted four individual times).  This is to ensure that each position is assigned a unique job id number.

The deadline for entering all job requests is Friday, July 8.  Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. Position decisions will be sent by e-mail the week of Aug. 2.

All questions related to the CLAY, YES and Work/Study programs should be directed to wspost@yorku.ca. Questions related to the RAY program should be directed to raypost@yorku.ca.
