Construction activities begin this weekend in the grassy area east of York Lanes as the temporary entrance to the York University Bookstore starts to take shape.

On the east wall of York Lanes, next to Kaneff Tower, a new door will replace one of the windows and a temporary ramp will be installed to provide accessible entry to the bookstore.

On Nov. 1, the bookstore will move operations into three areas, all in York Lanes, as renovations get underway for the new retail space. The bookstore’s lower level will remain open throughout the renovations and will be the location for textbooks.

It is anticipated that the temporary ramp will be removed in the Fall of 2016, following completion and re-opening of the bookstore’s main floor.

The YU Bookstore and the York University Development Corporation (YUDC) are building the new bookstore to better serve the York community. The reopening of the redesigned and revitalized York University Bookstore is targeted for the Summer of 2016.
