Former York University Lions women’s hockey player Autumn Mills was selected for the Canadian women’s baseball team. Mills and her teammates will compete at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto this summer.

Women’s baseball will be making its Pan Am Games debut, and it is the first time the sport will be featured in a multi-sport, international competition. Mills, a pitcher from Burlington, Ont., was one of 18 players selected for the Canadian roster.

Mills was a tremendous student-athlete in her five seasons with the Lions women’s hockey team (2006-11). She finished among the top three in team scoring in each of her final three seasons while serving as an assistant captain. She was also strong in the classroom, earning the Canadian Interuniversity Sport academic all-Canadian honours four times. She was honoured with the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Marion Hillard Award in 2011 for her outstanding achievement in hockey, academics and community involvement. She was also York’s selection for the OUA Woman of Influence in 2009.

In addition to training and competing with the national baseball team, Mills, who graduated from York in 2011 with degrees in kinesiology & health science and education, is also a Halton Region police officer.
