Professor Richard A. Jarrell died suddenly and unexpectedly on Dec. 28, 2013. For many in the York community, this was the tragic loss of a colleague, a mentor, a teacher and a friend. An indefatigable advocate for the Department of Science and Technology Studies, Professor Jarrell had been a part of the York community since 1970 and member of the Division of Natural Science in the Faculty of Science since 1997.

On Feb. 12 at 3pm in the Winters College Dining Hall, 001 Winters, friends, colleagues and former students of Professor Jarrell will have the opportunity to attend a celebration of his life, to share in the rich legacy of his many “worlds”. You are invited to join others whose lives have been touched in one way or another by Professor Jarrell. There will be a reception immediately after a number of speakers highlighting his life.

In lieu of any gifts or flowers, you are invited to visit richardjarrell.ca to donate to a York University scholarship in his name.
