Top four submissions make next round of York U’s Intranet contest

Voting begins today (Wednesday, Feb. 13) on the top entries to the Name York U’s New Intranet contest. The contest winner will be announced on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

This spring, York University will launch a new Intranet for employees. To celebrate, the Better Workplace (BW) project group held a contest in January to find a name for the new Intranet. Up for grabs was a grand prize of a new iPad Mini valued at $329.

The contest, which closed Jan. 25, received some 419 submissions from 247 employees (each staff or faculty member could submit up to two names).

Using the Intranet’s core attributes of welcoming, accessible, approachable, useful, helpful, innovative and collaborative, the Better Workplace Advisory Group got to work judging the entries. They produced a shortlist of names that they feel are the best matches to the Intranet’s core attributes. The top four submissions listed alphabetically are:

  • Entre YU
  • Huddle
  • Shareyork
  • YU Link

Now it is the York University community’s turn to vote for their favourite name.

Starting today and continuing until Feb. 22 at 5pm, every York employee will be able to submit one vote for their favourite name using eVote. Click here to access the eVote form. (Sign in through Passport York.)

The employee who first submitted the name that receives the most votes will win the iPad Mini, not to mention the bragging rights for having named the Intranet!

Voting begins Feb. 13 and closes at 5pm on Feb. 22. The winning name will be announced Feb. 26 in YFile.
