The government allows for a maximum $20,000 withdrawal for education at an accredited college or university under its Lifelong Learning Plan. The RRSP amounts must be paid back, but in this case, over a 10-year period. “It’s really good for people who want to go back to school to withdraw, [people who are] maybe between jobs – transitioning – and want to go on to an advanced degree,” said Jamie Golombek, instructor at York’s Schulich School of Business, in CBC News Jan. 4.
